A billboard in Indiana has caused some controversy in the wake of the high-profile police killings and officer-involved shooting deaths of African-American men. The electronic billboard in Muncie caught the eyes of plenty of people around the town Saturday and one person described it as “vulgar” and “discriminatory.” It read “Hate cops? The next time you need help call a crackhead.” Megan Thomas told The Star Press on Sunday that she noticed the sign while walking with her niece. She said she was offended by the message, which she alleged was "vulgar, discriminatory to many different classes of people in our city.” She said it also seemed to have been up ahead of a police brutality pro...

Mike Pence, fueling already heated speculation that the state's conservative chief executive is the presumptive Republican presidential nominee's choice for vice president. But that didn’t necessarily rule out other short-listers, including former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. After Trump met with Pence, he met with Gingrich at an Indianapolis hotel, and was set to meet afterward with Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions. (Google Street View) Investigators on Monday identified a 14-year-old boy who died after his father shot him at a gun range that a local newspaper had described as "possibly being one of the safest indoor shooting ranges ever designed." It happened at High Noon Guns in Sarasota. A spent shell casing had hit a wall and fell into the back of the dad's shirt, investigators said. They added that the man accidentially pointed his gun behind him when it fired, and the round hit his son. Paramedics rushe...

(Da Capo Press) The ship was fashioned after the Titanic, and met an end no less tragic, but the tale of the Cap Arcona—and the thousands of concentration-camp prisoners who lost their lives aboard it—is one you've likely never heard. The "Nazi Titanic" gets its due in a new book of the same name by Robert P. Watson, a historian and professor at Florida's Ly University. The German luxury liner was built in 1927 and traversed the Atlantic 91 times, reports the Columbus Dispatch in a review of the book. During WWII, it played the role of the Titanic in a Nazi propaganda film made to depict the English in a bad light (that ended up being a bust), but it otherwise sat at port in the Baltic S...
