(AP) The U.S. and Russia failed to come to a deal Monday on how to end the bloodshed between U.S.-backed rebels and Syria’s Russian-aligned regime, but vowed to keep up negotiations as the G20 summit in China came to an end. President Barack Obama and Russian leader Vladimir Putin attended an economic summit as pressure mounted to get a deal done. Obama and Putin huddled for 90 minutes on the sidelines of the G20, according to a senior White House official. The official told the Associated Press that the two sides clarified some of the large gaps in how a deal would be implemented. The two leaders directed their teams to schedule a meeting for some time later this week.   Two correctional officers are listed in critical condition after being shot in the lobby of a central Califoia county jail Saturday moing, officials said. Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims told reporters that the suspect, 37-year-old Thong Vang of Fresno, shot at correctional officers Juanita Davila and Toamalama Scanlan around 8:30 a.m. local time after he entered the jail's lobby, made his way to the front of the line and stated that he wanted to see someone at the jail. (Fox 13 Memphis) Eight people were taken to hospitals after a ride suddenly shut down Saturday at a fair in Memphis, Tenn., officials said.  Riders were enjoying the Moonraker, which spins around an axis and tilts up and down on an angle, at the Delta Fair when the ride's computer detected a problem and immediately began safety shutdown, Matt Snyder, the fair's safety director, told the Associated Press. As the ride stopped spinning and began to descend, the operator of the ride panicked and pressed a manual override button that released the safety restraints before it settled into its cradle. "It scared everybody," Snyder said. Initial reports that 14 people were thrown from the ride and taken to hospitals were "terribly inaccurate," according to Earle Farrell, a spokesman from the Shelby County Sheriff's Office. Kaepeick and Reid dropped to one knee while a naval officer sang "The Star-Spangled Banner" and dozens of military members unfurled an oversized flag at the Chargers' Qualcomm Stadium.   People from the Florida Panhandle down to the Tampa area braced Thursday for Hurricane Hermine, as it lashes the area with strong winds and potentially dangerous storm surge. The National Hurricane Center said the storm's winds ratched up from 75 mph in the afteoon to 80 mph by evening as the former tropical storm gained new fury. Hermine was set to make landfall late Thursday or early Friday, forecasters said. A hurricane waing was in effect for Florida's Big Bend from the Suwannee River to Mexico Beach.   Newly released State Department emails shed light on top Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin’s close dealings with Clinton Foundation matters while she was working at the State Department – as well as aides' frustration with their boss’s email practices.  Emails obtained by Fox News show how Abedin used her State Department email address to deal with issues relating to a Clinton Global Initiative event.
