The metal artifacts, some of which are more than 3,500 years old, were found over a period of years by the late Marcel Mazliah, a worker at the Hadera power plant in northe Israel. Mazliah’s family recently presented the treasures to the Israel Antiquities Authority. The mosaics were found on the nave floor of the synagogue in Huqoq that dates back to the fifth century when the area was part of the Roman Empire. In addition to the ark, pairs of animals that include elephants, leopards, donkeys, snakes, bears, lions, ostriches, camels, sheep and goats are depicted. An engraver made 201 facsimiles of the original Declaration of Independence in 1823 using a copper plate. (Lakeland Police Department) Authorities in central Florida are trying to figure out how an alligator got ahold of a dead body Tuesday near a lake. Lakeland police said they first received a 911 call in the moing after someone reported seeing the alligator with a body in its mouth on the shore of Lake Hunter.
