TODD STARNES Valedictorians so scary that school may not honor them

  • (REUTERS/Brian Snyder) A public school district near Louisville, Kentucky has come down with a bad case of what I call “Participation Trophy Syndrome” – or PTS. The Greater Clark County School Board in Jeffersonville, Indiana, is considering a plan to eliminate the valedictorian system because it creates “unhealthy competition,” according to Supt. Andrew Melin. Click here to join Todd’s American Dispatch: a must-read for Conservatives! Unhealthy competition? Is he serious? Did a kid suffer a concussion while trying to parse a participle? “When students are competing for the Val and the Sal, they’re trying to find ways to maneuver through the system to try and get the best grades they can possibly get, as opposed to taking the course work that’s truly in their own best interest,” Supt. Melin told television station WHAS. For you folks living in a commune in Berkeley, the “Val” is the valedictorian and the “Sal” is the salutatorian. • TODD STARNES SC HS bans American flag at football stadium

  •   Dean “Chico” Bolin was my great uncle. But to the folks around Travelers Rest, South Carolina, Uncle Chico was a legend – on and off the football field. Click here to join Todd’s American Dispatch: a must-read for Conservatives! He was a good man – a Christian man –a no-nonsense disciplinarian. Uncle Chico was also a Marine. He fought in World War II and was severely wounded – shot in the leg at Iwo Jima. When Chico retued home he enrolled at Furman University and eventually took a job at Travelers Rest High School. Among his first assignments was to restart the dormant football program. So that’s exactly what he did – naming the squad in honor of his beloved Marines. And since 1949, the football team at Travelers Rest High School has been known as the “Devildogs.” Uncle Chico, who passed away in 2007, lived long enough to see the school name its new football stadium in his honor – a decorated war hero who loved America. Twitter banned Breitbart tech editor and openly gay conservative Milo Yiannopoulos for life last month after his followers tweeted objectionable comments targeting African-American “Ghostbusters” star Leslie Jones, but a recent case in London’s Old Bailey shows Twitter took a hands-off approach to the poisonous posts of Anjem Choudary. • The Bible on the desk of Maj. Steve Lewis. (Courtesy of MRFF) The Military Religious Freedom Foundation is demanding an Air Force major be “aggressively punished” for having an open Bible on his desk at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colo. “It [the Bible] is very obviously a statement of Christian preference, Christian primacy,” MRFF founder Mikey Weinstein told me. “Had that been the Book of Satan or the Koran there would be blood in the freaking streets.” Click here for a free subscription to Todd’s American Dispatch: a must-read for Conservatives He accused Maj. • TODD STARNES 'All Lives Matter' comment gets student in hot water

  •   Politically correct tyranny is afoot at the University of Houston. I was recently made aware of a student at the university who was suspended for 50 days by the student govement association and ordered to attend diversity training over a reference she made about the Black Lives Matter crowd. “#ForgetBlackLivesMatter; more like AllLivesMatter,” wrote Rohini Sethi, the vice president of the school’s student govement association. Click here to join Todd’s American Dispatch: a must-read for conservatives! Ms. Sethi wrote those words last month just a few hours after five Dallas police officers were assassinated. Her belief that every life matters set off a firestorm of controversy among students – including the Black Student Union. They were among several predominantly African-American groups who demanded that Ms. Sethi be punished for exercising her First Amendment rights. “For her to say on her social media ‘forget black lives matter,’ it’s almost as if to say if all of us were to die tomorrow, she wouldn’t care,” BSU president Kadidja Kone told the Washington Post. “Just for her to say, ‘forget Black Lives Matter,’ is a punch in the stomach, student Nala Hughes told ABC 13 News in Houston. The 100 Collegiate Men, an organization for black students, also condemned the idea that all lives matter. “As of today, African American students do not feel welcome, comfortable, represented, valued or even acknowledged at the University of Houston,” read a statement provided to the Post. “Students at the University of Houston want to feel adequately represented. They do not feel that this is being accomplished as long as Rohini Sethi is in office.” In order to placate the torches and pitchfork mob, the student govement association gave SGA President Shane Smith full authority to mete out a punishment. And Mr. Smith was more than happy to oblige. According to the Daily Cougar, Ms. Sethi was suspended from govement activities for 50 days. She was also ordered to attend thre, ...ادامه مطلب

  • TODD STARNES Newspaper rejects ad over the word 'Christian'

  • The owners of a Christian bookstore in Knoxville, Tennessee were dumbfounded after the News Sentinel rejected their ad because it included an offensive word – “Christian.” Lois McGinnis and her family own Cedar Springs Christian Store. They recently decided to close a second location of the store so they decided to place an ad in the classified section of the newspaper, which is owned by Gannett. Click here to join Todd’s American Dispatch: a must-read for conservatives! The advertisement read: “Store closing sale – Cedar Springs Christian Store – Clinton Highway location – All merchandise, fixtures, slat walls must go. Sale through August 13, phone 865.947.XXX.” Mrs. McGinnis placed the ad on July 26. It was supposed to run on July 28. But when she opened up the newspaper – the ad was nowhere to be found. So Mrs. McGinnis phoned the newspaper and spoke with a classified ad employee. “She said our ad did not run because it contained an offensive word,” she told me. “I asked what that offensive word was and she said the offensive word was ‘Christian.’” She said the News Sentinel did not notify her in advance the ad had been rejected nor did they call to say they were refunding her money. “We had no way of knowing they considered the word ‘Christian’ offensive until we tried to place this ad,” she told me. “As Christians, this was a slap in the face to us,” she added. So the bookstore decided to tell their customers what happened in a very clever Facebook posting. • TODD STARNES Macy's worker claims fired over Catholic faith

  • (AP) Javier Chavez loved his job at Macy’s. The devout Roman Catholic was hired in 1990 as a door guard. A few years later he was promoted to store detective – and he eventually became a senior store detective at the department store’s location in Flushing, Queens. But after more than 26 years on the job, Mr. Chavez was fired – allegedly over an incident involving a man who identifies as a woman using the ladies room. Click here to join Todd’s American Dispatch: a must-read for conservatives! Mr. Chavez has filed an official complaint with the New York State Division of Human Rights claiming he was terminated because of his religious beliefs. Here’s the back story: In May, Mr. Chavez responded to a call about a distraught female customer and her daughter. They were afraid to enter the ladies room because a transgender person was using the facilities. A security guard under his command told the transgender individual to leave – but the person refused. “He later exited the bathroom holding hands with his female companion and he declared that he ‘was a female,’ which was not true,” Mr. Chavez wrote in his complaint. The transgender customer complained to store management and raised quite a ruckus, according to the complaint. Click here to get Todd’s latest book – a gun-totin’, Bible-clinger’s guide to America. At some point an assistant store manager informed Chavez that men who identify as women are allowed to use the ladies room. “I advised her that this was against my religion and contrary to the Bible,” Chavez wrote. “I also mentioned that I would not like my young daughters to be in the bathroom with a male inside.” At no time did Mr. Chavez tell Macy’s he would not enforce the policy. He simply stated his religious beliefs. A few days after the incident, he was summoned to human resources for more probing. He asked HR for a copy of the new policy conceing restroom usage. But instead of providing the policy, he was suspended and later terminated. “After my emp, ...ادامه مطلب

  • Tiannopoulos delights in provoking critics, but now he'll have to do it without Twitter. Breitbart joualist Milo Yiannopoulos lashed back at Twitter Wednesday after it banned the political provocateur for life, calling the 140-character platform a “safe space only for leftist ideology.” Yiannopoulos condemned the social media site for silencing conservatives while freely carrying the hateful messages of anti-police groups. The openly gay conservative bomb thrower’s ouster had the hashtag #FreeMilo trending Wednesday as users from the left and right call for his retu. “[Twitter] targets conservatives while letting the left, Islamists, and in particular the social justice warrior vanguard of the millennial generation get away scot-free with abusive, racist and harassing behavior,” Yiannopoulos, a darling of the young conservative movement, told FoxNews.com in an email. @Lesdoggg Hi Leslie, following, please DM me when you have a moment — Jack (@jack) July 19, 2016 Although Yiannopoulos himself didn’t post explicitly racist language, he was blamed when some of his followers directed a storm of racist tweets at “Ghostbusters” actress Leslie Jones following his scathing movie review in which he criticized her character for perpetuating black stereotypes. Yiannopoulos said he doesn’t take responsibility for the tweets, and said the situation only escalated because Jones responded by “attempting to call her trolls names.” Insisting he didn’t break Twitter’s terms of service, Yiannopoulos highlighted extreme ideology that has been permitted on the site, pointing to posts that call for the “celebration of the deaths of police” and offensive tweets against whites from Jones herself. • TODD STARNES Fire chief yanks police flag claiming 'extremist' fears

  • A group of firefighters in Riverside County, Califoia wanted to honor police officers killed in Baton Rouge and Dallas. So firefighter Eric Hille decided to display a pro-police flag on one of the fire engines at Sunnymead Ranch Station 48.  Click here to join Todd’s American Dispatch - a must-read for Conservatives!  You’ve probably seen the flag — it’s black and white with a  blue stripe through the middle — symbolizing the “thin blue line.” He posted the flag on July 17 -- just a few hours after a gunman attacked officers in Baton Rouge, killing three. “We just wanted to show our support for law enforcement,” Mr. Hille told me. “We wanted them to know that we stand shoulder to shoulder in solidarity with them.” Police officers appreciated the goodwill gesture — but some people did not. Click here to stop the war on traditional American values. Read Todd’s latest book -- “God Less America” The following day the fire chief sent an email to the firefighters — telling them the flag had to come down. And your friendly neighborhood columnist received an exclusive copy of the email written by Chief John Hawkins. “Our foremost conce was whether the flag could create a safety risk for emergency responders due to extremists targeting the fire engine or for people following the fire engine and not being able to see the waing lights,” the chief wrote. He also said the fire department had to “look at the big picture.” “How is this perceived by not only the public, but also those that would seek to do harm to those in public safety?” he wrote. “Some feel the flag is an attempt to incite further violence against those who, to our very core, have dedicated our lives to protecting all lives.” The fire chief called the decision to remove the pro-police flag a “difficult” and “painful” decision. “Should we potentially increase the risk for our firefighters by flying flags, banners or signs in this time of divisiveness,” he asked. “Sadly, in this unsettled time the danger is possi, ...ادامه مطلب
