(AP) The U.S. and Russia failed to come to a deal Monday on how to end the bloodshed between U.S.-backed rebels and Syria’s Russian-aligned regime, but vowed to keep up negotiations as the G20 summit in China came to an end. President Barack Obama and Russian leader Vladimir Putin attended an economic summit as pressure mounted to get a deal done. Obama and Putin huddled for 90 minutes on the sidelines of the G20, according to a senior White House official. The official told the Associated Press that the two sides clarified some of the large gaps in how a deal would be implemented. The two leaders directed their teams to schedule a meeting for some time later this week. Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also met, but came out of their meeting without a deal to announce. The two diplomats met for an h, ...ادامه مطلب

Within minutes of Obama arriving on Air Force One, a member of the Chinese delegation started screaming at White House staff, according to reporters on the tarmac. One reporter described the scene as “a bit of chaos,” as the Chinese official appeared furious about joualists being so near Obama’s arrival, though they purportedly were standing in the area Chinese officials had designated for them. • LAST-MINUTE CHANGE Trump revised speech after Mexican leader's tweet

  •   As Donald Trump arrived in Phoenix late Wednesday, fresh from a visit to Mexico City’s presidential palace, he had in his hands a big immigration speech that omitted the usual line that Mexico would have to pay for his proposed wall along the U.S. southe border. Just after landing, though, Mr. Trump discovered that Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto had tweeted that he had told the Republican presidential nominee during their private meeting earlier that day that his country would refuse to pay for the wall. Mr. Trump was peeved that Mr. Peña Nieto had gone public with the fact that the Mexican president had broken what Mr. Trump considered a deal to keep the question of paying for the wall off the table at their initial meeting. So Mr. Trump hurriedly inserted a new sentence in his immigration speech, and he soon boomed out from the podium his traditional declaration that the wall would be paid for by Mexico—adding, “They don’t know it yet but they’re g,last minute change, last minute changes synonym, last minute change flight, last minute change booking, last minute change flight date, last minute change of plans, last minute changes quotes, last minute change name, last minute change currency, last minute changes to a will ...ادامه مطلب

  • BOMBS OVER LIBYA Obama quietly extends US campaign against ISIS

  •   President Obama has extended the U.S. military’s combat mission in Libya for another month at the request of senior military leaders, two defense officials with knowledge of the order told Fox News.   The decision keeps two U.S. Navy warships off the coast of Libya to continue striking ISIS and assist Libyan ground forces fighting the terror group in the coastal city of Sirte. One of the U.S. warships had been scheduled to go to the Persian Gulf in September to begin airstrikes against ISIS in Iraq and Syria and keep an eye on Iran, a week after four provocations between Iranian gunboats and U.S. Navy ships -- one of which resulted in waing shots being fired by a U.S. warship. The other, a U.S. Navy destroyer, was supposed to head to the Black Sea near Russia next month. But both plans will be put on hold, according to one defense official.  USS Wasp, a large amphibious assault ship loaded with over 1,000 Marines as well as Harrier jets and Cobra attack helicopters, wil, bombs over libya ...ادامه مطلب

  • COURTS' LEFT TURN Federal judge picks change legal landscape, ensure Obama's legacy

  •   President Obama may be struggling to tilt the balance of the Supreme Court – but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t already made his mark on the bench. The president, over the course of his two terms, has appointed hundreds of justices to the lower federal courts, leading to a majority of appeals courts now dominated by Democratic picks. While those nomination battles aren’t nearly as high-profile as they are for the high court, the impact of the appointments is just as pronounced.   “It's often overlooked, but nominees to the lower courts ... are often one of the most important legacies a president leaves behind,” said Elizabeth Wydra, president of the Constitutional Accountability Center. The Fourth Circuit, which sits just one level below the Supreme Court and is headquartered in Richmond, Va., is a prime example. • BORDER SUMMIT: Trump agrees to meet with Mexican president ahead of immigration policy speech

  • FILE - In this Aug. 27, 2016 file photo, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump speaks in Des Moines, Iowa. (AP) Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said Tuesday that he had accepted an invitation to visit Mexico from President Enrique Pena Nieto ahead of his immigration policy speech in Arizona. President Nieto confirmed that Trump accepted the invitation and that the two would meet in private Wednesday. The visit will come as Trump looks to clarify his stance on immigration, which is the centerpiece of his presidential campaign. Trump has called for the deportation of illegal immigrants living in the U.S. and building a wall along with country’s Mexican border and having Mexico pay for the wall. Recently, Trump has signaled he would soften his stance a bit after meetings with Hispanic leaders and a special “Hannity” town hall last week. Trump’s campaign manager Kellyanne Conway said on “Fox News Sunday” that Trump wants to find “the fair and humane , ...ادامه مطلب

  • OBAMA'S BROKEN PROMISES ObamaCare coverage options disappearing, report finds

  •   Nearly a third of U.S. counties will be left with just one insurance option next year on the ObamaCare exchanges, according to a new analysis fueling waings about the impact of the insurance company exodus from markets across the country.  The Kaiser Family Foundation study found residents in Pinal County, Ariz., are even at risk of having no insurance options on the exchanges, which provide subsidized plans.  Republicans seized on the report Monday to claim that the health care overhaul is not providing the choices promised by President Obama and others.   "The president repeatedly promised that his health care law would provide more choices, ‘bend the cost curve,’ and allow Americans to keep the plans they liked and could afford. He failed to live up to those promises, and families are paying the price," Sen. Roy Blunt, R-Mo., said in a statement, noting the majority of counties in Missouri could be left with just one insurance option on the exchanges.  The Kaise, obama, obamacare, obama movie, obama phone, obama net worth, obama age, obama approval rating, obama speech, obama twitter, obama family ...ادامه مطلب

  • A green sea turtle is seen off the coast of Oahu, Hawaii. (Reuters) President Obama, with the stroke of a pen, created the world's largest ocean reserve on Friday off Hawaii, days after designating a massive federal monument in Maine – moves that have angered local lawmakers who accuse the president of disregarding the impact on residents.  Obama used a presidential proclamation to expand the Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument off the coast of Hawaii by over 400,000 square miles. • BIAS ALERT Despite supporting Obama, media links Lochte, Trump

  •   Olympian Ryan Lochte behaved like an ugly American and then lied about it, so he must be a Trump supporter, right? Media outlets led by the Huffington Post have decided so. Nothing other than the swimming star’s bad behavior was enough to send the website’s Cynthia Dill on a flight of fancy – and bizarre assumptions. “How much do you want to bet that Ryan Lochte is a Donald Trump supporter?” Dill wrote, derisively referring to both Trump and Lochte as “bros.” “And is it me, or does shirtless Lochte in the pool resemble shirtless … Putin, Trump’s idol, on a horse?” Related Image Expand / Contract There's no basis for saying Lochte is a Trump supporter, but that didn't stop several media outlets from linking them. • BIAS ALERT Media ignores Obama on floods, hit Bush for Katrina

  •   President George W. Bush was to to shreds in 2005 by mainstream media commentators for his initial response to Hurricane Katrina – yet President Obama’s detached response to the recent Louisiana floods has been met with resounding silence from those same outlets. “George Bush doesn’t care about black people” was the shocking charge by singer Kanye West about President Bush’s response to Katrina. West’s was a particularly blunt assessment, but echoed a growing narrative pushed by mainstream media outlets that Bush’s response was out of touch, inept and most of all, he didn’t care about people on the ground. Much of the media coverage at the time not only criticized Bush for the difficulties the federal govement faced in responding to the disaster, but also lambasted him for taking too long to retu from vacation and to visit the site on the ground. • BIAS ALERT NYT Manafort story omits Clinton's Moscow speech

  •   The New York Times published an extensive report Monday examining Donald Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort’s work for a pro-Russian party in Ukraine – but despite pointing to it as a “rising issue” in the presidential campaign, glossed over its own past reporting on the Clintons’ Russian connections. The latest article detailed ledgers purportedly showing more than $12 million earmarked for Manafort by the pro-Russian party. According to the Times, investigators claim they were part of an illicit off-the-books operation, though Manafort denies ever getting such payments. The Times noted that Manafort’s “involvement with moneyed interests in Russia and Ukraine” has been reported before – but said American relationships there have emerged as a “rising issue” in the presidential campaign.
