  • VOTERS WANT ‘EARTHQUAKE’ RNC’s Priebus says Trump past of no concern to Americans

  •   Republican National Committee leader Reince Priebus on Sunday defended the presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump against the recent onslaught of negative news stories, saying voters are more conceed about which candidate is going to “bring an earthquake to Washington." Priebus on “Fox News Sunday” repeatedly argued that Trump is the candidate who will satisfy an electorate angry about few good jobs and other issues, compared to Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton, regardless of what the billionaire businessman did roughly 30 years ago, before running for elected office. “I don’t think Donald Trump and his personal life are what people are looking at. The bigger question is: Between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, who’s going to have a more efficient govement?” said Preibus, who is trying to get establishment Republicans, conservatives and other members of the party behind Trump. “Who is going to blow up the system,” Priebus continued. “People are angry, and I think Donald Trump is the one to do it.” Last week, The New York Times published an in-depth story about Trump’s personal and professional life with women, dating back to his prep school days. And The Washington Post had a story about Trump allegedly promoting himself by pretending to be a publicist named John Miller. • HILLARY IN TROUBLE'? Polls show Sanders closing gap in Midwest primaries

  •   Vermont Sen. Beie Sanders went on a bastorming blitz Monday, responding to a sudden opening to gain on Hillary Clinton’s delegate lead as polls show the front-runner’s once-solid advantage in key Midweste contests shrinking to single digits going into the Super Tuesday II primaries. In Illinois, one of five states holding primaries on Tuesday, a fresh CBS News poll even shows Sanders ahead of Clinton by 2 points. The story is the same across the Midwest. In Ohio’s primary, polls show Clinton leading by an average of just 6 percentage points, down from a high of 30 just a few weeks ago. In Missouri, too, Sanders has decidedly closed the gap.  [embedded content] RCP Poll Average for Ohio Democratic Primary | InsideGov Clinton might be feeling the pressure. Ahead of Tuesday’s primaries, the Clinton campaign scrambled to clarify comments made the night before in a CNN town hall – where she seemed to predict the demise of coal jobs that many workers in states like Ohio and Illinois rely upon. At the town hall, she said, “I'm the only candidate which has a policy about how to bring economic opportunity using clean renewable energy as the key into coal country, because we're going to put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business.” 2016 Election Headquarters The latest headlines on the 2016 elections from the biggest name in politics. • SHOW OF PATRIOTISM Midwest town unites after atheists target beloved flag

  • A poster from Jake's Fireworks now hangs in Sen. Jerry Moran's Kansas office. (@JerryMoran) A Midweste community has united in a show of patriotism after an atheist organization targeted a local post office’s “God Bless America” poster. Freedom from Religion Foundation cried foul after the group noticed a “God Bless America” banner that employees at a post office in Pittsburg, Kan., had erected after Sept. 11, 2001. A lawsuit filed by FFRF on behalf of a Pittsburg resident forced the banner down in late January, The Christian Post reported. But the sign’s removal after nearly 15 years of display had an unintended effect. When news of the banner’s banishment spread, a business in the area, Jake’s Fireworks, printed 1,200 “God Bless America” yard signs and 300 banners. Jake’s gave away all of the signs within 45 minutes, according to the Post. “Obviously, we’re among the majority that didn’t agree with the decision to take the sign down,” retail sales director Jason Marietta told The Moing Sun. But not all residents supported the post office flying the banner. “Let’s call a spade a spade,” Bert Patrick wrote in a Letter to the Editor for The Moing Sun. “The sign was removed because the postal officials realized, most likely after consulting legal counsel, that the sign’s message violated the First Amendment, which prohibits the govement from supporting any religion.” Sen. Jerry Moran, R-Kan., however, said the Constitution guarantees “freedom of religion, not freedom from religion.” “It is outrageous that some would aim to divide a community over a banner that has been proudly displayed since Sept. 11, 2001,” Moran wrote on Facebook. “I commend the Pittsburg community for rejecting this decision and I stand with them.” This entry passed through the Full-Text RSS service - if this is your content and you're reading it on someone else's site, please read the FAQ at fivefilters.org/content-only/faq.php#publishers., ...ادامه مطلب
