  A powerful signal has been spotted coming from the vicinity of a sunlike star, and now astronomers are trying to figure out what it means. In May 2015, researchers using a radio telescope in Russia detected a candidate SETI (search for extraterrestrial intelligence) signal that seems to originate from HD 164595, a star system that lies about 94 light-years from Earth, the website Centauri Dreams reported over the weekend. The JLTV (Oshkosh Defense) As the U.S. Army readies to bring its current crop of Humvees into the 21st century with a new vehicle, reconnaissance officials are also looking to replace the Humvee's pre-World War II .50-caliber machine gun with a version of the Apache helicopter’s cannon in 2019. The Army has embarked on a major project to replace the Humvee, officially known as the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWVS). Last year the Army signed a $6.7 billion deal with Oshkosh Defense for 17,000 Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTVs). Touted as offering more protection and greater off-road mobility, JLTVs will replace a large chunk of the Army and Marine Corps’ legacy Humvee fleet. The military expects to see the new vehicles in 2018 and 2019. Col. William T. Two friends living in a remote community in northe Canada have just discovered through DNA that they were switched at birth 41 years ago. Leon Swanson and David Tait Jr. were bo three days apart in 1975 at a hospital in Manitoba run by the Canadian govement, local media reported Friday. [embedded content] Both men were teased about their resemblances to each other’s families as they were growing up in Norway House Cree Nation, 300 miles north of Winnipeg, the Winnipeg Free Press reported. “It’s pretty tough, it hits you like a ton of bricks,” Tait said, according to the paper. “(I’m) angry, confused, upset. I’d like to get some answers so I know what’s going on.” Nine months ago, two men from a nearby town discovered through DNA tests they were switched at birth at the same hospital in 1975, five months after Swanson and Tait. Smart made the remarks in a video posted Friday by Fight the New Drug, an anti-poography advocacy group. Smart, who was taken from her Salt Lake City home in 2002 at the age of 14, recounts how Brian David Mitchell showed her magazines containing hardcore poography. She says he then wanted to mimic what he saw. Smart says she cannot say that looking at poography caused Mitchell to kidnap her but that "poography made my living hell worse." Smart describes herself as an advocate against abuse and poography. She has a book on self-empowerment scheduled for release in spring 2017. Gaziantep Province Gov. Ali Yerlikaya said the blast during the wedding in the city of Gaziantep, near the border with Syria, was a terror attack. A brief statement from the goveor's office said the explosion in the Sahinbey district occurred at 10:50 p.m. (3:50 p.m. ET) The statement condemned the "treacherous" attack, but did not provide further details. Mehmet Tascioglu, a local joualist, told NTV television that the huge explosion could be heard in many parts of the city.   The Pentagon waed the Syrian govement against carrying out airstrikes near U.S. and allied personnel Friday, one day after attacks caused the U.S. to scramble jets to protect special operations forces.  Navy Capt. Jeff Davis said the U.S. has increased combat air patrols in that area and has waed Syria that America will defend coalition troops. He also said he believes this is the first time the U.S. has scrambled aircraft in response to an incident like this involving Syrian govement bombings. "We view instances that place coalition personnel at risk with the utmost seriousness, and we do have the inherent right of self-defense," Davis said.
