Two friends living in a remote community in northe Canada have just discovered through DNA that they were switched at birth 41 years ago. Leon Swanson and David Tait Jr. were bo three days apart in 1975 at a hospital in Manitoba run by the Canadian govement, local media reported Friday. Smart made the remarks in a video posted Friday by Fight the New Drug, an anti-poography advocacy group. Smart, who was taken from her Salt Lake City home in 2002 at the age of 14, recounts how Brian David Mitchell showed her magazines containing hardcore poography. She says he then wanted to mimic what he saw. Smart says she cannot say that looking at poography caused Mitchell to kidnap her but that "poography made my living hell worse."   Officials believe an “explosive hobbyist” may have left behind the device that detonated when an 18-year-old man’s foot landed on it in New York’s Central Park on Sunday moing, creating a blast that resulted in a severe leg injury for the man. Connor Golden was in surgery at Bellevue Hospital on Sunday evening with a grisly left leg wound that authorities said earlier in the day could require “possible amputation.” Officials said there was no evidence the incident was terror-related, and the working theory revolved around a person testing explosives, perhaps in advance of the Fourth of July holiday. Officials were scouring the park for other, similar devices, but there was no evidence more than one existed. Authorities appeared to cast doubt on any nefarious motives. O’Connell said the explosive was not placed in a location “where somebody ordinarily would have stepped,” and Torre said investigators hadn’t found any evidence to show the device was a “constructive IED.” “There is some forensic evidence that indicates it was not meant to go off with somebody stepping on it,” said Torre, who noted he had not seen a similar incident dating back to 1993. “It may have not gone off at an earlier time and was just left there.” Torre said the device, which was not described, had likely been in the park “longer than a day” and could have been constructed by someone with a basic knowledge of chemistry and access to a computer. A statement from the U.S. European Command (EUCOM) claimed that the frigate Yaroslav Mudry passed unnecessarily near the guided missile cruiser USS San Jacinto. The statement added that the Yaroslav Mudry navigated in the San Jacinto's wake.  EUCOM said the U.S. cruiser was not threatened and maintained its course and speed. However, the statement said the Russian maneuver was "contrary to inteational maritime regulations." "These actions can unnecessarily escalate tensions between countries, and could result in dangerous miscalculations or accidents," the EUCOM statement said. Reuters reported that at the time of the incident, the San Jacinto was carrying out operations against ISIS in Iraq and Syria along with the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower.  The latest incident occurred 13 days after another incident between U.S. and Russian forces in the Mediterranean Sea. On June 17, defense officials tell Fox News, the Russian frigate Neustrashimyy maneuvered close to the USS Gravely, a destroyer that was protecting another U.S. aircraft carrier, the USS Harry Truman, while the Truman was launching anti-ISIS airstrikes. The resulting equation gives a 1,500-year estimate for contact. “It’s possible to hear any time at all, but it becomes likely we will have heard around 1,500 years from now,” said Solomonides. “Until then, it is possible that we appear to be alone – even if we are not. But if we stop listening or looking, we may miss the signals.   The relationship between Orlando terrorist Omar Mateen and an American suicide bomber in Syria was much “deeper” than previously understood by federal investigators, according to a govement source. Fox News was told the relationship as well as the Mateen case in general are "very complex" but would not go further, citing the sensitivity of the FBI investigation and classified information. The source said the bomber's retu to Florida in 2013 is under fresh scrutiny as well. Mateen’s name surfaced twice for FBI investigators in the run-up to the attack. After the first, full FBI investigation of Mateen concluded in March 2014, his name surfaced two months later in a second, separate FBI investigation of American suicide bomber Moner Abu-Salha -- who drove 16 tons of explosives into a Syrian govement facility on behalf of Al Qaeda-linked Nusra Front in late May of that year. The men had attended the same Easte Florida mosque.  At the time of the 2014 investigation, the FBI determined the association was minimal. FBI Director James Comey told reporters Monday a witness had identified Mateen to the FBI during their investigation of Abu-Salha and claimed Mateen was watching videos from the American cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, an Al Qaeda terrorist targeted for death by the CIA in 2011. A comparison with 11 metallic meteorites found they were made of similar elements. The dagger dates back to the 14th century B.C. and was found in the wrapping surrounding the right thigh of King Tut’s mummy. It features a decorated gold handle with a rounded knob of rock crystal. It was encased in a gold sheath that was decorated with a patte of lilies, feathers and a jackal’s head. Another separate gold blade was found under King Tut’s wrapping on the abdomen. Iron objects were rare and considered more valuable than gold during the Bronze Age and were mostly decorative. This may have been because Egyptians found iron difficult to work with as the metal requires a very high heat to forge. Archaeologist Howard Carter found King Tut’s tomb in 1922 and it was long suspected that the iron blade was made from a meteorite but previous analysis has been controversial.   The first available audio from EgyptAir Flight 804 showed the pilot in normal contact with Swiss air traffic controllers as the flight continued on its course from Paris toward Cairo, hours before officials lost contact with the jet, the Associated Press reported Saturday evening. The seemingly standard dialogue came to light hours after Egypt denied media reports the doomed jet's black boxes had been located. The new audio indicated that all was routine as the plane checked in with air traffic controllers in Zurich late Wednesday night, before being handed over to Italian air traffic controllers in Padua. Control: "EgyptAir804 contact Padova 1-2-0, decimal 7-2-5, good night." Pilot: "This is 0-7-2-5 Padova control. (Unintelligible) 8-0-4. Thank you so much. Good day, er, good night." The audio recording was taken from www.liveatc.net, a website that provides live air traffic control broadcasts from around the world. The communication occurred around midnight local time, about 2 ½ hours before Greek air traffic controllers in Athens lost contact with EgyptAir Flight 804. Earlier Saturday, Egypt denied reports that the black boxes from the missing plane had been located by investigators seeking answers to what brought down the aircraft over the Mediterranean. A senior official at the Egyptian Civil Aviation Ministry refuted the reports as did a spokesman for Egypt’s military who said he had no information to share on the retrieval of the black boxes, or cockpit voice and flight data recorders.
